Furniture fabric defect types(1)

2023-08-23

Machines will have certain defects when producing fabrics, and all kinds of defects will be formed. Of course, the types of defects are not only formed in the process of producing fabrics, but also caused by various reasons in post-processing production.

This is a description of some fabric defects:

Barre (crotch defect)

For knitted fabrics, this defect is characterized by some uneven patterns in the transverse direction of the best sofa fabric material or in the transverse direction of the fabric. Uneven yarn, uneven yarn tension and different dye affinity may be the reasons for this situation.

Bad place

This is a very convenient term for fabric defects that are difficult to describe in words. This term is usually used to describe those places where the weaving of fabrics is seriously damaged.

Twill bias (reference weft bias)

For woven fabrics, this defect refers to the place where the weft yarn and warp yarn deviate in size; For knitted fabrics, this situation refers to the place where the size deviation between the horizontal row and the vertical row of the fabric occurs.

Birdseye defect

For knitted fabrics, this situation refers to the tuck stitch that occasionally appears irregularly, contrary to the fabric design.

Bow

For woven fabrics, this situation means that the weft yarns are located in the width direction of the fabric in an arc way; For knitted fabrics, this situation means that the courses of loops are located in the width direction of the fabric in an arc way.

Broken end

This defect refers to the place where the warp yarn is broken and repaired. Its common feature is that you can see the broken ends woven into the fabric.

Broken color pattern

For woven fabrics, this situation refers to the discontinuity of patterns, which may be caused by mistakes in drawing color patterns with the loom harness or incorrect resetting of the image filling chain after repairing the loom when the weft yarn breaks; For knitted fabrics, this situation is caused by the error of shuttle changing bobbin.

Broken pick

This situation refers to the lack of weft yarns in part of the width of the fabric due to the breakage of weft yarns.

Bruise)-(refer to temple defect)

This situation refers to the fact that the yarn being knitted or the woven fabric is worn, which leads to the loss of direction of the fiber and the distortion of the suede sofa fabric appearance.

Burl mark (Burlmark)

This is a kind of deformation caused by excessive substances, including coarse yarn, waste and floating yarn that is being removed with repair tools.

Button hole defect

This is a fabric selvage defect, which is caused by the excessive tension accumulated on the loom shuttle before changing the weft. This tension often limits the correct shedding and interlacing of selvage weft yarns, resulting in a defect similar to buttonhole.

Chafed yarn

This kind of defect refers to the worn yarn, which will make the fiber lose its sense of direction and distort the yarn. This defect will affect the colorability of yarn and often lead to radial streaking or weft streaking.

Chopped filling

This kind of defect refers to the unbalanced phenomenon in the weft direction, which is characterized by the existence of an obvious or neat pattern, which is caused by the eccentric behavior of the drawing roller.

Clip mark

This kind of defect refers to the place on the fabric that is not dyed. This kind of defect is caused by small metal clips clamped on the edge of the fabric, which are used to avoid or correct the folding of the fabric selvedge during dyeing.

Coarse warp end

This situation means that the diameter of one warp yarn is significantly larger than that of the normal warp yarn of the fabric.

Coarse pick (coarse pick)

This situation means that the diameter of one weft yarn is significantly larger than the normal weft yarn of the fabric.

Coarse yarn defect (coarse yarn)

This situation means that the diameter of one count yarn is obviously larger than the normal count yarn of the fabric.

Cockled fabric

For knitted fabrics, this defect refers to those fabrics that are wrinkled, shriveled or raised and cannot be laid flat on the cutting table. This phenomenon may be caused by irregular twisting of yarns, uneven tension of yarns in knitting process, and uneven reaction degree of yarns in fabric in finishing process.

Cockled yarn

This situation means that some fibers in a yarn look very curly and can't tell the direction of the fibers. The reason for this is that some yarn fibers are too long relative to the drawing roller, so that the latter drawing roller has clamped the fiber before the former drawing roller released it, which will break and curl the fiber. Twisted yarns look like tiny twists in fabrics.
